Today’s Gem of Gratitude #338

Today I am thankful for flat-heeled shoes. Though I thoroughly enjoy stilettos and just about every other type of heeled shoe that there is and I often wear heels, I am not without appreciation for shoes that are lacking in the heel department. Let’s face it, sometimes my feet need a little break from the pressures that are associated with wearing heels, especially when I find myself needing to walk for significant distances or stand for lengthy periods of time. That’s why I make it a point to keep at least a few pairs of flat-heeled shoes in my wardrobe. After all, I need thoughtful breaks when I work, why should it be any different for my feet? #lovebythedrop

Today I am thankful for the color silver. I am not certain as to why I am so drawn to the color silver, but for some reason it is the first color that comes to mind when I think of a number of things, such as that special car that will one day be mine, jewelry, accessories, and even nail polish. I guess that if I had to attempt to put into words possible reasons why I appreciate the color silver so much, I would say that it is a color that is sophisticated, yet is not as pretentious as the color gold; it is a color that is flattering to most items that bear its embrace; and it is pristine, cool, and fun. In a nutshell, it reminds me a lot of me, and that is perhaps the best reason of them all. Smile. #lovebythedrop

Today I am thankful for cotton. Though cotton carries with it a somewhat unpleasant history in this country, it has certainly proven itself to be a very useful material. After all, it can be used to make clothing, added to bottles of pills to prevent the pills from breaking up, and used in the creation of a plethora of hygiene-related items. In fact, its versatility is one of its greatest qualities.

And though I certainly would not say that cotton is a material that is indispensable in my life, I must note that I do make use of it enough on a regular basis that its absence would certainly be noticed, especially when it concerns having access to the nice and lite clothing that I like to wear to stay cool during the summer months when it is extremely hot outside. Let’s face it, a desert summer without having access to clothes that are made of cool fabrics like cotton is practically unbearable. And since I have already shared with you the fact that I am not a fan of extreme heat, my appreciation for cotton should come as no surprise. #lovebythedrop
