Today’s Gem of Insight #171

Today’s insight journey led me to the idea that presenting information for information’s sake is still valuable. So much of what is presented in the media, on websites, etc. is so strategically worked and planned, with the purpose of accomplishing the presenter’s agenda for the furthering of their own interests—so they get what they want out of it—instead of presenting information with the motive of genuinely helping people.

As consumers of information, we’re constantly being worked over for others’ benefit. A reality that is rather taxing and disheartening.

This seems to be the way of things in this day and age, and, at least to a certain extent, we have to just accept that this is common practice.

But part of me isn’t so comfortable with that. Part of me believes that there still has to be room for a better, more considerate way of communicating information.

I’m not sure about you, but I find myself often coming across media footage, websites, and articles that initially give the impression that they contain information that might be interesting or useful to me, only to find that the information presented has been so heavily treated with SEO and other agenda-prioritizing elements, including embedded plugs for sponsors’ products, which causes me to move on to something else, in favor of sideswiping at least that one opportunity to be poorly handled.

Certainly, there is a place for advertising, sponsorship, and maybe even the use of SEO, but, as with everything, moderation and balance should be consistently utilized rather than forfeited.

What’s your take on this? Be blessed. #lovebythedrop
