Today’s Gem of Gratitude #356

Today I am thankful for water misting systems in use at various businesses and other establishments that are open to the public. With the official beginning of summer vastly approaching, we desert dwellers (and I imagine anyone else who also lives in a rather warm environment) have already begun to feel the sting of soaring heat levels. With that said, one of the many ways that certain businesses and other establishments have found to cut through the intense heat (even if only in minute ways) and create outdoor environments that are still fairly comfortable for patrons during the hotter months is buy installing and making use of water misting systems.

Now, I am not certain as to what the technical term is to describe these types of systems, but I have a feeling that you likely have an idea as to what I am referring. And whatever the technical term is to describe them, I simply say that they are a blessing, and I think that it would behoove more businesses and establishments to acquire and make use of such systems. After all, who is not trying to cool down as much as possible when it feels as though you literally could fry an egg on the sidewalk? As for me, point me in the direction of the water misters, because cool and I get along rather well. #lovebythedrop

Today I am thankful for the ability to wait for what I truly want rather than settling for something less. In the past, it was a challenge for me to wait for the things that I wanted – a few times, I settled for being in the wrong relationship because I wanted to be with someone; I made the decision to buy certain products which were of less quality than what I truly wanted; and I turned my back on a relationship that deserved better treatment than that, all because I refused to wait. But now, at this point in my life, I have finally grasped the concept of waiting for the best instead of settling for less.

Now, do I still have my occasional moments when I put waiting on the back shelf? Yes, I do. But, thankfully, those moments are much fewer and farther between now than they used to be. And though waiting is not always the easiest thing to do, it is typically the wisest, because during the time that it takes for you to wait for the right thing, person, or opportunity to come along, you are being prepared for the very thing, person, or opportunity for which you are waiting. So, when the best of whatever or whomever finally arrives, your best is there to greet it or them. See, waiting is not so bad, now is it? #lovebythedrop

Today I am thankful for the ability to create and enter into agreements. In a world where so much of what we do and have access to is decided for us, I am thankful for the ability to create and enter into my own agreements. Having the ability to decide for myself what terms I am willing to accept and from whom is priceless. And since I will be one of the parties who will be on the hook for whatever is agreed upon should something not work out, I appreciate the fact that the decision to commit myself to agreements rests on my shoulders. After all, who knows which terms are most agreeable to me better than I do? #lovebythedrop
