Today’s insight journey led me to the idea that allowing our emotions to control us is not the way to live a blessed life. As human beings we are going to experience emotions. They are going to surface, oftentimes when we least expect it, and then depart, also oftentimes when we least expect it. That is a given. Because emotions are so unpredictable they are also unreliable. And because of their unpredictable and unreliable nature, if we do not make the choice, in advance of their arrival, to not allow ourselves to be swayed by our emotions, we will find ourselves being bounced around by those emotions as though we were little rubber duckies floating on choppy seas. And I am not sure about you, but it is hard to stay focused and stress-free when my emotions are zooming about inside of me like a roller coaster.
Yes, it may be a challenge to come up with a detailed plan of action prior to the onset of any emotion, but we can develop a general plan of attack that will at least provide us with some firm footing as we take the stance of holding our ground despite the impending emotional monsoon. Is it a challenge? Yes. But it is feasible. All it takes is some advanced planning, the right amount of effort, and a commitment to see it through. #lovebythedrop
