Today’s insight journey led me to the idea that it’s not a sign of weakness to admit that you are sick. Oftentimes we put so much pressure on ourselves and we are constantly on the go fixing this, finding that, and solving endless dilemmas that people practically think of us as superheroes. And because we are used to spreading ourselves so thin, at times we even buy into the superhero complex.
Yet, no matter how much we accomplish and no matter how many problems we solve, we are still human beings. And the more ragged that we run ourselves, the more susceptible that we are to becoming ill. And oddly enough, even becoming ill is often not enough to cause us to take care of ourselves, despite the fact that it is when we are sick that we need to take care of ourselves the most.
So, I encourage all of us to recognize our need to take care of ourselves, especially when we are not feeling well, and to realize that taking the time to take care of ourselves when we are ill is a sign of strength and wisdom, rather than a sign of weakness. And if we fail to take good care of ourselves when we are not feeling well, we will experience things that are much worse than weakness. #lovebythedrop
