Today’s insight journey led me to the idea that our story changes daily. Most of us have likely been told by someone in our life that each day is a new day, and I truly do believe that. In fact, I know it to be true in more ways than one. And today’s gem of insight is an extension of that.
I won’t speak for you. I’ll only speak for myself. Sometimes I wake up to days that seem lost before they’ve even begun, as though I’m already behind in something before even having left my bed, setting my feet on the floor. Sometimes a barrage of thoughts pummeling me first thing in the morning is what makes me feel off kilter. At times it’s an achiness or some other health-related discomfort that assails me. And occasionally it’s just an odd sensation of something just not being right or not feeling right that grips me. Whatever form the oddity takes, I’ve come to realize that it’s just another thing to face, not necessarily something that has any significant bearing on my life, at least not if I don’t let it.
Each day, no matter how it starts, continues, and concludes, brings with it a change in our story, an opportunity to see ourselves and our lives through new eyes, a fresh perspective. Whether the day before was enjoyable or less than so, today is not yesterday—something I need to remind myself of often. And, yes, some days usher in huge changes to our world, and others seem to court no change at all, though we might wish for it. But whether we realize it or not, each day does bring changes to our story, whether we’re another day older, a few hours wiser, or our understanding of some aspect of life or love has matured just that much. And all of the changes—minute and grand—add up over time, coming together to form a tapestry of our existence.
So, I guess this is a gentle reminder to us to not allow ourselves to be so invested in the goings on of yesterday, whether we deemed them good or bad, because things will be at least a little different today, because we are different today. And that, my dears, is a part of the growth process. So, if yesterday seemed bleak, then hopefully today will be a little bit lighter and more joyful. And if yesterday was an enjoyable success, then be prepared for the fact that today might be a little less so. No matter the case, it all comprises our story, an ever-changing one, and the greatest definer of that story will be the perspective that we choose to apply to it. Be blessed. #lovebythedrop
