Today’s Gem of Insight #37

Today’s insight journey led me to the idea that we should take care to give thoughtful consideration when deciding whether or not to burn bridges, whether with people, companies, or organizations. The truth of the matter is that we never know what the future will hold. The very people, companies, and organizations that we say goodbye to today may be the very ones that we need help from or need to return to tomorrow.

We have all likely heard of someone being mean or rude to a stranger in one instance only to discover at some later point in time that that stranger ended up being the person with whom they interviewed for a new job, or who became their new boss, or who turned out to be any manner of other individual who was in a position to do something nice for them should they so choose. And we have thought to ourselves many things, including how awkward of a situation that would be.

We have also likely heard of someone ending a relationship or association with a person, company, or an organization in a horrific manner and then later realizing that they want to rekindle that relationship or that they need that person, company, or organization in some way. And that, too, seemed to be an awkward situation.

The point is that our present actions can yield results that greatly affect our futures, whether or not we realize it. So, with that in mind, we should beware when burning bridges, because we never know when we may need to navigate them again someday. #lovebythedrop
