Today’s Gem of Insight #162

Today’s insight journey led me to the idea that a little game goes a long way. Life is full of its share of serious moments, some of which seem to zap every ounce of our energy, time, and creativity. We struggle to balance the multiple facets of responsibility that never seem to take a break or go on vacation. The duties and chores pile on and on until we feel as though our breaking point is stalking us from right around the corner as it moves toward us at a breakneck pace.

Try as we might to lighten our loads, the truth of the matter is that the bulk of our responsibilities are here to stay. Besides, responsibilities aren’t the real problem here. Our lack of balance is.

So, how do we achieve that balance, giving ourselves the opportunity to relax a little and take a mini-break from our busy lives? There are so many things that we could do, many of which center around our personalities, interests, resources, etc. And rather than cover multiple balance-yielding plans and possibilities in this entry, I will mention one.

It’s easy, enjoyable, and given that this is the age of the smartphone, we all likely have the ability to do it even while on the go. What is it? Playing games, of course. And no, I am not referring to toying with a person’s emotions and sensibilities. I never advocate that. What I am talking about instead is playing board games, electronic games, digital games, etc. With so many technological advancements at hand, we can readily access games that focus on entertainment, intelligence, memory-enhancing skills, and more. There is something for everyone.

So, the next time that you feel overcome by the hustle and bustle of this life, why not take some time to play a game or two while taking a breather? Who knows, it may be just the thing that you need. Be blessed. #lovebythedrop
