Today I am thankful for road trips. At times, the everyday hustle and bustle can take a toll on us, causing us to feel as though we should be somewhere else. Have you ever felt the need to escape – from certain circumstances, even from life in general? I believe that we have all said “yes” to that question at some time or another. That seems to be typical of most people. And what have you done in response to your affirmative response to that question? What was the remedy you sought?
As for me, I have found that sometimes it is nice to just get into the car and drive for miles and miles encountering new people and experiencing new destinations, all the while temporarily removing myself from whatever environments or circumstances that were causing me to feel the need to escape, and essentially allowing myself to take a few moments to breathe again. At times like that, I find that I am sometimes better able to understand and evaluate situations and issues when I am no longer directly immersed in the environment that sustains them than I would be were I to remain in that environment.
There is certainly something to be said about the clarity of mind that can present itself via engaging in a simple road trip. It truly can do wonders for the mind, body, and soul, as you experience time to relax, view the situations of others around you and realize how truly blessed you are (problematic situations and all), and allow your faith to redirect you onto the right path. Sometimes it really is just as simple as that.
So, I encourage you to take a road trip whether or not you have already done so before. And it does not matter whether it is a long road trip or a short one. The important thing is that you embark on one and allow yourself to experience a much needed time of refreshment. For those of you who have already developed a sense of enjoyment of road trips, please share your experiences and ideas with me. To those of you who have yet to delve into the world of road trips but are interested and may need ideas, let me know and I will be happy to make some suggestions for you. And as always, be blessed. #lovebythedrop
