Today’s Gem of Insight #88

Today’s insight journey led me to the idea that saving our love for tomorrow robs us of life today. We maneuver through life searching for love, compassion, happiness, joy, peace, and all manner of other wonderful concepts that leave positive footprints on our lives. Yet, of all of those, love is solidly in the lead in the race of things that we desire the most.

And in our quest to find love, know love, and be loved, we unfortunately have a tendency to forget one of the most important elements in the equation that yields love, and that is the giving of love on our part. Sometimes it’s that we do not know how to love. Other times it’s that we are scared to allow ourselves to be vulnerable enough to love. But more often than not it boils down to the fact that we are erroneously under the impression that we have all of the time in the world to love. What I do not understand, though, is how finite beings could possibly have all of the time in the world to do anything, especially something like loving others which requires significant investments of time, effort, and self.

Our time is entirely limited. And though we may find ourselves riding high on the waves of life on occasion, we need to always keep in mind the reality that we have no idea how much time we have remaining in this life. So while we continue to grace this planet, why not make it a point to start loving others today and leave tomorrow to its own endeavors? #lovebythedrop
