Today I am thankful for professionalism. The exhibition of professionalism is such a rare thing nowadays that when I encounter it I practically have to take a double take in order to make sure that I am not imagining things. It may sound as though I am being facetious, but I am not. There truly is a crisis-level lack of professionalism in this world, so much so that it is potentially noticeable when you go to the grocery store, to restaurants, to school, etc. This negative behavior has invaded just about every aspect of our society as though it were an infectious disease. And it’s up to us to find the cure.
I do not know about you, but there are certain situations in which I naturally expect that a certain level of professionalism will be exhibited (i.e. when interacting with doctors, lawyers, professors, and people who are in positions of authority over you). Yet, many people do not even attempt to feign professionalism no matter who is involved. And this seems to be an ever increasing trend as each year passes by, which is disheartening.
What has happened to us as a society and what can we do to rectify this situation? I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this. #lovebythedrop
Amen.
