Today’s Gem of Gratitude #207

Today I am thankful for the Firecracker Stuffed Jalapeños at On the Border restaurants. Normally I am not one to partake of any type of hot pepper in significant amounts. I can appreciate the flavor that peppers add to food, but if the heat level becomes too high then the presence of the peppers is no longer enjoyable to me. So, you can imagine that I was rather hesitant to agree to sample these particular jalapeño poppers when I went to an On the Border Restaurant for the first time with a friend of mine.

This particular friend who had previously sampled these jalapeño poppers assured me that they were good, and that I would enjoy them. He told me that the jalapeños are stuffed with chicken and a mixture of cheeses, then coated in a tempura batter and deep fried. I am sure that the look on my face conveyed my lack of certainty that they would taste good, because all that kept coming to mind was the heat of the peppers, but I decided to keep an open mind about it.

Needless to say, I did go ahead and give these jalapeño poppers a try, and I have ordered them every time that I have visited that restaurant ever since. It’s funny how things work out like that. So, if you are ever in the mood for a little heat coupled with a lot of flavor, you might want to sample those little goodies along with the accompanying queso dip. Yes, they are absolutely that good. #lovebythedrop
