Today’s insight journey led me to the idea that it’s important to be entirely present in any given moment. Like most of us, I have experienced my fair share of moments when I have not completely given my attention to whatever or whomever I was interacting with at the moment. That is certainly something of which I am not proud. And though I, as well as many of you I would guess, have had the best of intentions and have not ever wanted to fail to extend to something or someone the attention that it or they deserve, the truth of the matter is that even innocent attempts at multitasking or moments of misguided focus can make it impossible to remain fully present in any given moment.
Now, I know that our lives are saturated with fascinating and often helpful technology that makes it possible for us to be constantly connected to the people in our lives and the ventures that occupy our schedules. And, to a certain extent, that level of connectivity can be periodically necessary. However, regardless of the number of demands that are on our lives and the amount of responsibility that we have, it is essential that we recognize those moments in which we need to set our ability to multitask and daydream to the side and instead focus on the task or person seeking our attention in the present moment. Is it easier said than done? Yes. But is it worth the effort? Absolutely. #lovebythedrop
