Today I am thankful for bacon. Sure, bacon is a simple food item in the sense that it is common and generally easy to find. Yet it is also complex in the sense that it comes in so many varieties, boasts different flavors, and adds such fullness of flavor to any side dish or entree. In fact, it tastes so good that I was compelled to express my appreciation for it.
Though maple-flavored bacon is easily my favorite, I also have a special appreciation for applewood smoked bacon and bacon that is covered in cracked peppercorns. I am not certain whether it is the saltiness of the bacon coupled with the sweetness of the maple sugar or some other tasty aspect of bacon that draws me in, but whatever it is it works for me. And whether the bacon is served on a sandwich, sprinkled on top of a salad, or served as its own side dish, its presence is aways a welcomed treat for me. #lovebythedrop

Bacon is just about one of my favorite foods… If you put cheese and bacon on anything, it instantly becomes edible.
