Today I am thankful for the people in my life who see my potential, even when I am at a point when, because of circumstances, I have temporarily lost sight of it.
There are tasks in life that will come easily to us – because of our natural makeup, innate abilities, and prowess. Some things, to put it simply, will be a piece of cake. And just as there are tasks in life that are so easy for us to do that we could likely complete them with our eyes closed and our hands tied behind our backs (ok, maybe just one hand), there are other tasks that practically threaten to beat us, rip us in half, set us on fire, and then roll over us in an eighteen wheeler. (Ok, maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but I am sure that when challenging circumstances hit it feels that way sometimes).
It is especially during those challenging times that I have had a tendency, in the past, to lose sight of my potential, my innate abilities, and all of the other positive things that make me who I am. Thankfully, though, I have people in my life who not only see my potential, even when I have temporarily lost sight of it, but they make it a point to help me to redirect my focus back onto my potential by lovingly recapping my positives for me. And when I think back on some of the moments when the people in my life have either said or done the very thing that needed to happen in order for me to catch sight of my potential again and continue to advance forward, my heart is filled with more love and appreciation than I could ever convey through words on this blog.
And the ultimate blessing in it all is that just as the people in my life support and encourage me by taking note of my potential and helping me to redirect my focus, I am blessed to have opportunities to do the same thing in return for them. And at that thought I cannot help but to smile. #lovebythedrop
