Today’s Gem of Insight #175

Today’s insight journey led me to the idea that we quickly discover how much something means to us when it’s gone. A sad adage, for sure, but certainly a true one.

With the hustle and bustle of life—all of the demands on us and our time, the challenges that we encounter, and the unexpected occurences that leave us feeling as though we have whiplash, it’s rather easy for us to take for granted the people and things that we are blessed with in this life. I’ve certainly been guilty of that, and I imagine that you might be in the same boat.

We, as human beings, extend all kinds of considerations to others because we know this to be true. And it is a blessing that we extend that courtesy to each other.

At the same time, it’s quite possible that, though we extend these considerations to others, we might not be allowing ourselves the time to consider what and whom we get to share life with and intentionally take note of how much they mean to us, the positive ways they influence us and our lives, and how privileged we are to have them.

Oftentimes, we don’t make a concerted effort to do that until the person or thing is no longer in our world, and that can be a bit disheartening.

Hopefully, we will take greater stock in the blessings that we have, especially those that take the form of other human beings. After all, we only have one life to live, and we never know exactly how long that life will be ours. May we live the life that we have well and acknowledge, understand, and cherish the people and things we are blessed with. Be blessed. #lovebythedrop
