Today’s Gem of Gratitude #20

Today I am thankful to be me. Sometimes I lose sight of the fact that I am an original, and that the precise design that makes me who I am will never be repeated. At times I become so caught up in “fixing” the aspects of myself that I think need to be adjusted that I neglect to fully appreciate all of the wonderful intricacies that detail who I am.

Though I am certain that I am not alone in this regard, this is a subject that is not generally discussed publicly. Most people who consider this subject seem to do so privately, whether it be because of shame, fear of being judged, or some other reason, and that is unfortunate.

Yes, it is important to better oneself and to take the best care of oneself. But we as human beings should not allow ourselves to become so influenced by societal pressures to look a certain way and to behave a certain way that we attempt to fatally alter a design that was perfectly made. We are who we are, and that should be celebrated, rather than tolerated.

I encourage all of you to discover new ways to appreciate the “you” that you are. Because without you the world would not be as wonderful and diverse as it is. What makes you who you are and how are you committed to celebrate your individuality today? #lovebythedrop
