Today’s Gem of Gratitude #54

Today I am thankful for museums. As a person who possesses a great interest in travelling but does not have the availability to do so that often, I enjoy visiting local museums which can temporarily satisfy my desire to travel by introducing me to new worlds and cultures without my having to even step foot on a plane. Like a fair number of people, I am fortunate to live in a city that boasts a significant number of culturally and creatively diverse museums that cater to a wide variety of patrons. Whether my interest is in music, Native American culture, history, art, or science, there is a museum that addresses that interest.

Museums are great for many reasons. Not only do they expand a person’s cultural horizons so to speak, but they are also one of the many ventures that can be fairly inexpensive, especially considering the fact that many museums offer free admission to patrons on certain days of the week or weekend. Visiting museums can also serve as a nice escape from the mundane goings on of your day-to-day life, or it can be the perfect activity for a simple but enjoyable romantic outing. Museums are generally kid friendly, which can be a plus (though I must point out the fact that some museums are solely geared towards an adult audience; so, when making plans to visit a museum you might want to contact the museum staff and verify that the content of the museum is appropriate for children when seeking to involve the little ones in your museum experience).

When taking all of this into consideration it is no wonder that visiting museums can be a great use of your time. If you have not been to a museum of any kind before, or maybe it has just been a while since you visited one, I encourage you to pick a day and go. I am fairly certain that you will be glad that you did. #lovebythedrop
