Today I am thankful for unexpected moments of happiness. Life, for the most part, for me, seems to yield more pleasurable experiences than not-so-pleasant ones, and I am certainly okay with that. Now, even though the pleasurable experiences in my life seem to occur at a greater frequency than the not-so-pleasant ones, the not-so-pleasant ones can sometimes be so large in magnitude that they take a lot out of me emotionally, spiritually, physically, etc. And it is especially during those times when I am the most noticeably thankful for unexpected moments of happiness.
After giving this some thought, I have come to realize that perhaps the reason why I am the most noticeably thankful for unexpected moments of happiness when I am experiencing challenging moments in life is because an unexpected moment of happiness is the last thing that I would imagine might occur during such trying times. Let’s face it, during moments of difficulty we human beings have a tendency to focus on the circumstances and our concerns about possible outcomes of the situation at hand. So, if we are doing that, why would we ever think that an unexpected moment of happiness would pop up? It just does not seem logical, right?
But just because something is not logical does not mean that it is not possible. This is a concept that I have taken to heart. So much so, in fact, that I have committed myself to looking for those unexpected moments of happiness even during the most trying of times, and then a once I discover them I allow them to rejuvenate me and fill me with the motivation that I need to continue on my journey. #lovebythedrop
