Today I am thankful for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Though I briefly mentioned him when I expressed my appreciation for fearless leaders I want to dedicate this blog entry to him.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is known the world over and the majority of us are fairly familiar with some of the major details of his life, so I will not recount much of that here. I simply want to take a little time to express my appreciation for a man who in going against the grain of common thought and practice brought progress and positive change to a world that was in desperate need of it, a man who accomplished all of this via a commitment to God, the people, himself, and a powerful message of non-violence.

When I think of Dr. King I am reminded of his compassion, resilience, determination, and eloquence. And I cannot help but smile when I think of his message, the respectful and perfectly controlled manner in which he delivered it, and the balance that he maintained between working for the cause and nurturing his family. And it is his combination of strength and gentleness that inspires and motivates me, rendering me even more thankful for his existence and the priceless sacrifice that he made. I am forever grateful. #lovebythedrop
