Today I am thankful for deadlines. I am not sure about you, but there are times when I need all of the help that I can get in order to stay on track with things. Though I generally keep myself on task and focused there are times when I am either worn out, fatigued, bored, distracted, or any combination thereof, which can impose its own set of challenges upon me when it comes to taking care of things according to the applicable timeline. And it’s in times like those that having deadlines come in handy the most, as deadlines keep me pushing forward even when I feel as though I want to do everything else but keep going. As we all know, there are times when we are just have to put the pedal to the metal and go for it, knowing that once we complete the task at hand we will finally have a moment to breathe and rest.
In addition to compelling me to continue moving forward when I either do not want to or I feel as though I have lost all energy to do so, having deadlines is also a benefit because it helps me to prioritize the various important events, tasks, and situations that I am juggling at any given time. This also serves, in its own way, to keep me going as well by minimizing the amount of chaos that I have to deal with. And to me, that is a highly valuable benefit, as I naturally prefer organization to chaos. After all, it’s easier to maintain an environment full of peace that way, and peace and I have a good thing going. #lovebythedrop
